Many HG and post members attended the funeral of deceased Navy and Air Force veteran, Ron Garrett, also a post member. 5 April 2025 The Honor Guard ceremony includes placing a battlefield cross near the grave of the veteran. This one was in honor of post member Ron Garrett who served in both the Navy and the Air Force. Emily Deason 4 yrs of VFW Post Scholarships, achieved a 4.0 GPA in nursing, and was the valedictorian of the Class of 2021 at Georgia State College & University located in Milledgeville, GA. Kathy was the judge who selected Evelyn's essay at the post winner. From there Evelyn won District, Dept.(State of SC), and National contests. A video was shown at the meeting when the National VFW Cmdr presented the Patriot's Pen Award to Evelyn Newbigging. Here Evelyn is reciting her winning essay worth $5000. VFW/BSA liaison Gary Dolan presents a VFW certificate and Eagle award to James Propernick from the Belair Church Troop 275. The event was held at the Andrew Jackson State Park on 4 May 2025. Indian Land High School JROTC Cadet Paige Spinella receives the VFW JROTC awards from post JROTC rep, Greg Beckwith.The award was given 29 March 2025 at the ILHS Cadet Ball.  Deborah and Greg Beckwith presented Eagle music boxes and VFW certficates to four new Eagle Scouts: Jacob Garris, Connor Frew, Ivan Mercado, and Jackson Hilliard. The Court of Honor was held at the Osceola UMC on 6/14/2025.
