Saying Goodbye to CPT Ray Dunsmore, USMC

David Jordan - 5/2/2017

Thank you for the note Dave. We appreciate you going up to Illinois and representing Post 12136.

"We assembled at the Trimble funeral home and departed at 9:30 AM to Rock Island National Cemetery. As the hearse pulls past the entrance the two security officers saluted as CPT Dunsmore and the funeral procession entered the grounds. Police halted all vehicle traffic and gave us priority. We gathered near a sheltered pavilion where Army Chaplain (Col) Kenneth Lundeen gave a eulogy and a brief military history about CPT Raymond E. Dunsmore. A local Honor Guard of Vietnam veterans under the leadership of HG Andy Andersen gave a 21 gun salute folded our Nations colors and presented the flag to Ray's grandson Alex.

Seated in the front row were Ray's grandson Alex, Michelle Cabor, daughter of Ray's sister Nancy,  Nancy Hendren and Nancy's son, Jay Hendren. Phyllis's brother Alex Regan, from Florida, as well as other family and friends were present for the ceremony.   The weather, friendship and location were perfect in every way."
