Commander’s Corner Brief: January 18, 2025

Welcome to the Commander’s Corner! Our meeting on January 18th was another fine example of what makes VFW Post 12136 a meaningful and impactful organization for veterans and the community alike. Here’s a quick snapshot of key activities and updates from our meeting, showcasing why joining our post is more than just membership—it’s about purpose and camaraderie:

  • Community Engagement: From our highly active Honor Guard, which performed 15 events in December, to Adopt-a-Highway cleanups and plans for our annual Buddy Poppy fundraiser, we are deeply committed to service both to veterans and the broader community.

  • Veteran Support: Our Post Service Officer encourages all members to keep advancing medical and disability claims to ensure every veteran receives the benefits they deserve.

  • Fellowship Opportunities: Weekly Veteran Coffee gatherings, regular Post meetings, and upcoming events like the Golf Tournament provide the perfect setting to connect with fellow veterans and build lifelong friendships.

  • Recognizing Excellence: We take pride in supporting programs like the "Employee of the Year" for first responders and leading the district in youth programs like Patriot’s Pen and Voice of Democracy.

  • Continuous Improvement: Our website is now up-to-date and easier to navigate, making it a valuable resource for members to stay informed and engaged.

Whether it’s through honoring our fallen, serving our community, or mentoring the next generation, being a part of Post 12136 means taking pride in service while creating meaningful connections.

We invite prospective members to join us for our next meeting on February 15, 2025, at 9:30 AM at Brews Tavern. Come see what makes our Post a special place where veterans continue to make a difference.

For God and Country,
Cmdr. Robert Suzansky
